I see "Apple could not verify Auracle Desktop" — how do I open it?
macOS Gatekeeper blocks unsigned apps by default. Auracle Desktop is ad-hoc signed but not Apple-Developer-ID notarized yet (we're deferring the $99/yr cert until we have paying customers regularly using the desktop apps). Pick any of these to bypass — one-time per install:
Option 1 · Terminal one-liner (fastest)
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Auracle Desktop.app"
Then double-click the app. Works on every macOS version.
Option 2 · System Settings (no Terminal needed)
- Click Done on the warning dialog
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security
- Scroll to the Security section
- You'll see "Auracle Desktop.app was blocked..." with an Open Anyway button
- Click Open Anyway → confirm with Touch ID or password
- Now double-click the app — launches normally
Option 3 · Right-click → Open (older macOS only)
- Right-click (or Control-click)
Auracle Desktop.appin/Applications - Select Open from the context menu
- Click Open in the dialog
Note: macOS Sequoia (15+) removed the Open button from this path. Use Option 1 or 2 on Sequoia.
Future versions will be Apple-Developer-ID notarized once we cross the revenue threshold to justify it — no more workarounds. Auto-updates are still ad-hoc signed for now.
